This is a simple blog post

I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma on July 1st (yes, I got the call on Canada Day!
......to accrue 750 volunteer hours with St.JohnAmbulance. Ok well with almost a 20 year hiatus!
I have not found this blog thing to be user friendly but trying again!
My disease has been fairly well controlled but not without some annoying side effects. Of course.
My regimen now is as follows~
ONCE A WEEK:
Cyclophosphamide: 10 50mg tablets
Dexamethasone: 3 4mg tablets( that's a reduction)
Loratidine: 1 10mg tablet
Acetaminophen: 1 650mg tablet
on treatment days ( that I go to the hospital for) all of the above plus 50mg Diphenhydramine
At the hospital I receive an SQ injection of Daratumamab. Honestly I don't pay much attention to the amount.
I also ( recently reduced) receive an IV Infusion of Zolodronic Acid
Nightly I take:
a low dose Progesterone and Estrogen ***keeps me from killing people
Duloxetine 90mg***keeps me from killing myself
Gabapentin 200mg ***keeps bone pain from killing me
Valacyclovir 500mg***keeps viruses from killing me
Acetysalicylic Acid (ASA) 81mg ***keeps a random blood clot from killing me
Pantoprazole 40mg***keeps all the above drugs from killing me.
Although I'm not sure the latter is doing its job as well as it could.
Lenalidomide 15mg****added to all the above nightly for 3 weeks then off for 1 week, repeat as necessary.
Does that drug name ring a bell for anyone? If you're old enough to remember Thalidomide, you're right, they're related.
Once a month I have to answer the same questions and make promises by phone before the drug is sent from Kelowna to Kamloops.
" will you be handling the drug around anyone of child bearing age? Will you become pregnant? Remember you are not to donate blood." Etc. right. I'm 61 with a blood/ bone marrow cancer. But I've learned to grin and bear it...they are doing their job. Mine is to smile and nod.
Currently I am experiencing a lot of nausea and intestinal complaints. I
Will purposely leave that vague. 😝
....for the last few days I have been house bound although I do have some short engagements for very important activities like having my nails done and hair cut. Priorities.
I do have to go to the lab tomorrow and work with dogs at the SPCA for 2 hours on Tuesday . Hope it works out.
Being somewhat housebound isn't all bad. I've been painting and learning piano. Both equally fun and painful endeavours.
I do hope this blog works, with photos, with a link I can share, we shall see.
Thanks for jumping in and reading my update. ❤️🩹
